SDLX is a legacy computer‑assisted translation (CAT) environment developed by SDL International for Microsoft Windows. Designed for professional translators, language service providers, and corporate localization teams, it streamlines translation through segment-based translation memory and terminology integration.

Key capabilities include fuzzy matching, terminology lookup via SDL MultiTerm, alignment to build translation memories from existing bilingual texts, and project preparation with pre‑translation and word‑count analysis. SDLX supports a wide range of file types, including common office documents, web formats (such as HTML and XML), and software resource files, and it offers quality‑assurance checks to improve consistency and accuracy.

Widely used throughout the 2000s, SDLX has since been superseded by SDL Trados Studio, which consolidates SDL’s CAT technologies into a modern interface and provides migration options for SDLX translation memories and bilingual files.

SDLX is developed by SDL International and is used by 8 users of Software Informer. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 8.0, 9.0, 9.1, 9.2 and 9.3. The names of program executable files are s42analyse.exe, s42subst.exe, s42termbase.exe, sdlx.exe and SDLXDemo.exe. Works with itd, wtd file types.
